Near the tree line
i came to find you here
just below the tree line
the wind filled up my coat
shoved me off my dug-in boots
i felt the stone slam warm
i tasted dirt and blood
i smelled the stirring pines
i saw a blur of white
all around all around all around
all around all around
all around
I hear the wind say no
as I set free a sigh
I hear it goes this way
for those caught lonely and alone
just below the tree line
just cold enough to stay alive
I feel my stirring blood
once I know you’re gone, long gone.
